Open to Young Women, ages 15 to 18

What is a Teen Talking Circle?

Circle is a space we create together that is Safe, Confidential and Comfortable. Once this space is created, Solid and Trustworthy Relationship can develop between Young Women. 

Circle offers us a time and place to connect with our own selves and with each other.

"TTC (teen talking circle) programs emphasize the value of relationships to self and others. We help teens become healthy in vital ways. Through deeper communication, self-expression, revelation, better judgment and maturity, resilience, assertiveness, self-awareness, compassion, empathy, connectedness, respect, consciousness, listening, integrity, acceptance of self and others, truth, emotion, love, connection, and physical expression, and much much more!"

What is an Open Circle?

At the beginning of each new Talking Circle Session , Maggie & Maureen offer two meetings that are open to any young women (15-18 yrs old) who are curious about Circle and want to try it out before signing up for the full 10 weeks. Circle can be very fun, very safe and very rewarding, but it can also be intimidating to join a group of people you do not know to talk about your personal lives. The first two open circles allow us to get to know one another better, get comfortable and also set up Circle Guidelines and Agreements.

What is a Closed Circle?

By "closing" the circle, we have all agreed to be a part of the meetings for the next 8 weeks. At this point no new members will be able to join us until the Circle is opened for the next session (January 2014). This allows us to get to know one another better and it feels safer to attend a weekly circle of familiar faces. Once in a great while, a guest may join us to teach or speak or co-facilitate (this would only happen after asking permission from permanent members). 

Winter 2014 Circle Cost:

Each member of circle is asked to make a payment of $100 dollars on the date of our first closed circle meeting.
Through financial support we, the facilitators, are able to fund the present circle and save for circles of the future.

Girl Talk

     
Fall 2013 Teen Talking Circles have begun! 
Our circle for this session is official   
and we are off to a powerful start!

Circle is now "closed" and will run weekly until the end of November. 

     We feel blessed and excited to be able to share the concept of Circles with women and young girls in this community. A large pot-luck gathering is being planned for December 2013 in which all ages will be invited into circle to share and celebrate the season.
